Once in 1997 I found myself in Masai Mara, Kenya. I was amazed at the wilderness that I saw there. I had a point-and-shoot camera on me, and I shoot a few dozens of film. I was very proud of the material I short, until I developed the film. I realized then that photography is not only a craft, but an art, and I need to study it. I promised to myself that I would definitely go back to Africa again, when I have learned how to take a good picture.

I have a friend in Moscow, Russia, his name is Lev Melikhov, he is a well known Russian photographer. He agreed to teach me photography. We used to go to downtown Moscow to make sketches, take pictures of various objects, and then develop them in his studio. He didn't explain much to me; instead he would place my picture next to his picture of the same object and say, "Look what I have here, man, and look what you have. Look, compare, think". These lessons gave me quite a vivid understanding of what composition is.

For some time, I tried to copy his style until I realized, that a second Lev Melikhov is of no interest even to myself. So, I went under the water and to the African savannah to take pictures of wildlife and create my own world of photography as I see it.

Since then, I have taken part in a few gallery showings of underwater photo images, and in 2002 I was a member of the Russian National Team for underwater photography. I have also taken part in a few projects of the Lev Melikhov Studio.

My personal photo gallery showings were in Moscow, Russia: Depth of Field (featuring underwater images, 2002), Savannah (featuring African wildlife, 2007), Mountains (featuring a Himalayan expedition, 2009).

My pictures are sold to different private collectiors as well as the Tanzanian Embassy in Moscow.
